We had a great turnout at the Menswear Syndicate Meetup held two weeks ago. There were over 20 people who attended the meetup representing various styles. There were those into workwear, streetwear, high street and classic menswear. Many of the attendees had their own clothing brands notably Marvin Conanan of Chief Clothing and the trio behind Newspaper Boy Clothing. The core Menswear Syndicate team was present (that’s us in the back in the photo above) and we shared our experiences with local tailors and purchasing items from abroad. We also asked each one to share what their background was and their kind of style. It was great to see everyone talking menswear and sharing their related interests and experiences. If you are interested in joining the next meetup watch out for announcements on this blog. Special thanks goes to Purveyr for helping us get the word out, Esquire Philippines for giving away free copies of their magazine and to Victor Basa for being the official photographer. We want to meet more men who are as passionate about menswear as we are. The meetup is open to everyone but registration is required. You can register through the widget below.

What Went Down at Menswear Meetup
I’m really happy to have met new people who are also passionate about menswear over the weekend. Edmond Lim was there to share his knowledge of Japanese denim bringing with him jeans from different makers. He also brought magazines that show the before (raw) and after (washed) look of different brands. I saw how my Pherrow’s 466 will fade into so I’m excited to see more indigo washed away. One notable attendee was Mark Dee who is exploring creating his own line of jeans. He even brought raw selvedge swatches that came from China.
Thank you again to Cafe Publico for having us. Their huge table was perfect for our little show and tell. Looking forward to meeting more guys in the next Menswear Meetup!
Menswear Meetup on July 14, 2012 at Cafe Publico
This is the second menswear meetup I am organizing. We won’t be doing anything special – just talk menswear over some good gelato. We will be having a special guest who is a Japanese denim aficionado and an expert in shoe care. If you wanna know more and talk about anything menswear-related sign up!
Menswear Meetup and Fabric Shopping on January 21, 2012
I’m limiting the meetup to 10 attendees as it isn’t easy bringing around a large group through the busy and narrow markets of Binondo. I’ll be contacting and verifying each one who signs up due to the limited slots. If you are into tailored clothing and are searching for fabric for your next shirt or suit then sign up!
If you have any questions about this meetup email me. Registration ends January 19, 2012.
Status: Registration closed.
